The Stone Totem Pole

         I have been finding multiple images on stone tools, amulets, counting stones, and rock walls here in the state of Maine. The images are consistent in subject and placement like the numbers on the face of a clock. There are variations, but the overall patterns are consistent. Material is everywhere in Maine. When I say multiple images, I mean more layers than that of an onion. I am an old so I've been spying this for years. The use of the pen with my Samsung note, I finally can purge this material. I hope you forgive my scribblings on the stones. I have steadily improved, but the true work of art is already in the stone. This material is fascinating and beautiful. Could the Neanderthal Painted Pebble be too good to be true? Could the Neanderthal Painted Pebble be too good to be true? The European Painted Neanderthal Pebble Compared with the Maine Stone Anvil. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/17ix4pYNfF/  There is snow on the ground, the politics are consuming, but I have not been procrastinating, for I have spent the summer painting. I have been transcribing what I am deciphering on the surface of the stone on to canvas. The initial sketches already hum with activity. The sketches correspond with the stones above. The stone on the left is from the state of Maine. On the right, is the European stone.              I have centered both stones as I transcribe the design on to canvas. The design quickly pulls us in as the pareidolia triggers start working our brains. A Deeper Look in to the Maine Totem Stone Tool

      The following series of  pictures below are all of the same tool picked out from the group of tools above. I am not here to reinvent the tool.  I have found embellishments by humans for humans that merge with the tool.  For me, this embellishment, is what confirms the stone's history as a tool. This revelation may not be for the faint of heart.  So, we are not here for reinventing a serrated edge, curved knife, drill, concave scrapers of sizes almost standardize. Yes, these tools are actually standardized by the human hand.  Like the inch to the thumb, it is made ergonomically to fit the human hand. All the tools you may need on one handy dandy stone. With that said, this is an open discussion. The questions are infinite.
