 The GIANT Layer. brought to you by  Lithic Literature   I am starting with a little catchup session. I just completed producing a magazine style presentation introducing the fishhook layer. I was prompted by the knowledge of a study on that subject at my local university. I am happy to report that it was a wise suggestion. The fishhook story is incredible. I may have to return to the university with my little fishhook book and request a quick review and maybe garner some insight into what focus would better serve the activity in the archeology dept. I also have developed some beautiful images that support the use of the design by earlier civilizations to record and communicate their stories and contribute to the design. Images like Venus figurines and other identifiable subjects are derived from art history, enhanced and tweaked by early humans to represent particular cultures in these new images.   I have been working at documenting a design in stones that are found all over the world. It is still used today and as far back as the first glimmer of man. First, of course, I want to thank you for your interest in my research. You, exploring my work, is vital for the efforts of learning and teaching how to view and follow this material. I understand that it is difficult to see that something so simple is before our eyes and all around us. It takes a mature open mind and heart to grasp its immensity. My research is observational. I document what I see as I see it and I hope it can provide guidance for other studies. One of the more important tasks is to create a timeline, and every day I get closer to defining it. I see my work as practical, not spiritual, although it is heart-filling. The Fishhook Layer in Lithic Literature.

THE FISHHOOK LAYER   I am going to try to keep rocks and fishhooks exciting for the viewers 😅. I feel it is helpful to document my findings and at the same time make them accessible to folks. In some ways my simple vocabulary to explain a complex design is not a bad thing. I may need to teach people how to see the material in order to speak about content. In this article I will cover the fishhook history as described in the design. I am hoping that with this article covering fishing tackle, I may lure a co-writer from academia that might find my work interesting. I have chosen a garden stone with some oxidized designs using traces of iron in the rock thinking that metallurgy would be a good vein to follow in the fishhook story.  The rusted fishhook designs were not the only images that drew me to this stone as a possible site to explore fishing gear.
